I chose this painting because to me it illustrates Gatsby and the quotation very well. Gatsby is a dreamer he spends his life trying to fulfill his goal of finding Daisy and making her fall in love with him. Also in the end Gatsby's dreams and inspirations end up getting him killed. Much like in the painting, Gatsby's dream catch up with him and in the end he is hit with the reality that he may not get Daisy. This painting represents the American Dream that Gatsby followed, the idea that if you work hard you will succeed.
